a passion for brown beans

What is it about this dark desire? Or – more importantly – what is in it? At Amann Kaffee we trace this question back fo the country of origin. We obtain the raw materials for our Arabica blends directly from the growers and farmers, where the most exquisite of beans grow. The sweetness and mild acidity is drawn from the climate of the tropical highlands. Brazil, Guatemala and Colombia are where the finest beans for our best Arabica blends thrive and prosper. The years of mutual understanding with our coffee growers is the essence of our quality.

The coffee-tree is a tropical plant and prospers in hot and damp climate. The young plants grow up to a hight of 30-50 cm in a tree nursery, before they are moved into the plantation. The coffee-tree blooms after 3 years. The first harvest is after 5 to 7 years.

The coffee-cherries mellow from green over yellow to red and magenta – she contains normally 2 coffee-beans. After removing the pulp the yellow/green row-coffee remains, which is packed into gunnysacks and shipped to Europe.
